Installing Value

Vesta Firestopping, Inc., Project Portfolios

Our project experience is continually growing and expanding.  We have the ability to meet all of your firestopping needs.  The following are examples of the types of projects we have recently worked on.

Methodist HospitalProject Type: Commercial, Hospital Office Building, New Construction

Scope of work: Donors raised more than $19 million in 2005 to support six case areas: Park Nicollet Cancer Center, Methodist Hospital's Eating Disorders Institute, Struthers Parkinson's Center, International Diabetes Center at Park Nicollet, Patient-centered Research and Healthy Community Fund.

Vesta Firestopping, Inc. was selected to install perimeter fire safing insulation and smoke seal at the metal stud walls.  We also sprayed polyurethane foam at the vertical corner pockets above and under windows, and the eyebrow canopy on the Grand Level.  The 40,000 square foot facility will allow for state of the art patient care in one location.

Project Type: Commercial, Office Building, New Construction

Scope of work: Vesta Firestopping, Inc. was selected to install firestop systems at the Nestle Corporation building, formerly Novartis Medical Nutrition operation.
Firestop systems were installed at rated wall penetrations in the Boiler Room and Ammonia Room to contain smoke and gas transmissions.

The firestopping systems were designed to protect the lives of workers in a potentially hazardous work environment.  Vesta Firestopping is employing best practices on the project to provide expert documentation, efficient installation and educate the customer on firestopping systems.

Vesta crews have been commended by project leaders for their take charge attitude and exemplary professionalism on the job.

Project Type: Commercial, Office Building, New Construction

Scope of work:  A four-story, state-of-the-art office building was built for a large non-profit organization in St. Paul employing about 350 people.  We installed 4 pcf mineral wool batt insulation with fibers running parallel to the slab edge.  The packing material was compressed 40% in the nominal joint width.  We compressed the batt insulation into the perimeter joint such that the top surface of the batt insulation was flush with the top surface of the concrete floor slab.  We then sprayed smoke seal over the exposed surface of the mineral installed in the perimeter joint.  We applied a wet film thickness of 1/8” thick and overlapped the material a minimum ½” on to the adjacent wall assembly and concrete floor assembly.

Project Type: Residential, Apartment Building, Existing Construction

Scope of work:  This apartment building is over one hundred years old, and was undergoing extensive renovation.  The wood floors were in serious disrepair, and required complete reframing in the bathrooms.  We were contacted in the middle of the renovation, when it was discovered that firestop was necessary.  We obtained an engineering judgment from a product manufacturer and, at their recommendation, installed a Through Penetration system using intumescent caulk (expands when heated) to a depth of one inch around all piping and wiring.  We were able to complete the initial assessment, get the judgment and do the installation very quickly, which helped this project remain within its timeline for completion.
